TAMPA, FL – The 14U Maniacs opened the season with a 3-2 victory in their first game since spring. The team split the day but played good baseball to start the season off.
“I think the boys did a good job. You can tell we are rusty but they are playing good together and figuring out what we have. This is a great group of kids and parents and we expect to get better every time we step foot on the baseball field” – Jerry Gonzalez
The Maniacs went (1-2) for the tournament and look to bounce back this week as they will be playing in a more competitive USSSA tournament in Plant City.
Carson Simpson led the way offensively for the Maniacs going 4 for 7 with a double and 2 RBI’s. Tyler Robinett also had 2 RBI’s while Colby Paul and Kris Trenker both had 2 runs scored.
Gabe Vaughan pitched 3 scoreless innings earning the first victory of the season while Tyler Robinett gets the first save.
